The Central Bank of Barbados is refuting claims circulating about BimPay.
In a statement, the Bank says it is aware of a voice note circulating on WhatsApp containing false and misleading claims about the instant payments system.
The Bank says the recording falsely claims that individuals can no longer receive funds from overseas through services such as PayPal unless they have BimPay, that domestic transfers are deliberately being slowed for people who do not use BimPay, and that the Central Bank is forcing or coercing members of the public to adopt the service.
