A 45-year-old woman who was accused of attempting to murder a 13-year-old boy by poisoning him walked free yesterday after the prosecution discontinued the matter against her.
Hema Manbodh Singh was informed by High Court Master Rhea Libert that the Director of Public Prosecutions had filed a notice of discontinuation in the matter, and she was free to leave. She was represented by attorney Subhas Panday.
Manbodh Singh of New Grant was charged with three offences stemming from the alleged incident on March 16, 2023. The charges included attempted murder, exposing the child to circumstances likely to cause physical or mental harm and administering a poisonous substance to the child, endangering his life. She had allegedly mixed poison in a meal she had prepared for the teenager.
