A 45-year-old woman who was ac­cused of at­tempt­ing to mur­der a 13-year-old boy by poi­son­ing him walked free yes­ter­day af­ter the pros­e­cu­tion dis­con­tin­ued the mat­ter against her.

Hema Man­bodh Singh was in­formed by High Court Mas­ter Rhea Lib­ert that the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions had filed a no­tice of dis­con­tin­u­a­tion in the mat­ter, and she was free to leave. She was rep­re­sent­ed by at­tor­ney Sub­has Pan­day.

Man­bodh Singh of New Grant was charged with three of­fences stem­ming from the al­leged in­ci­dent on March 16, 2023. The charges in­clud­ed at­tempt­ed mur­der, ex­pos­ing the child to cir­cum­stances like­ly to cause phys­i­cal or men­tal harm and ad­min­is­ter­ing a poi­so­nous sub­stance to the child, en­dan­ger­ing his life. She had al­leged­ly mixed poi­son in a meal she had pre­pared for the teenag­er.
