Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO) president Dr Ellis Burris has welcomed the national day of prayer and reflection that is to replace the annual Independence Day Parade due to the ongoing state of emergency (SoE).
State-sponsored fireworks displays have also been cancelled and the State will issue permits for “sale and use of silent fireworks”.
In a phone interview on Friday, Burris, who was recently elected IRO president for a second time, said: “I support it 100%. I believe (Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar) is making an excellent move.
