Many of us have read the verse “Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord”. It is often understood as waiting for a higher power to solve our problems while we remain patient. Although this offers comfort, it holds a deeper meaning that guides every human being.Stillness is not simply standing without moving or sitting in undisturbed space. It is the ability to become calm within even when life around us gets chaotic. The moment we stop being carried away by fear, worry, anger, or excitement, something magical happens. We begin to experience salvation from bondages that had been controlling us. In that very moment, we are already being rescued from chaos. Our minds are constantly travelling between the past and the future. We replay old memories, worry about tomorrow, or imagine situations that may never happen. Rarely do we simply rest in the present. Yet the present moment is where life lives.THE COST OF A RESTLESS MINDModern life encourages constant stimulation. If we are not working, we are scrolling. If we are not talking, we are watching or listening to something. Even when the body lies down to sleep, the mind often continues running. We have forgotten how to simply pause, breathe, and be.This constant mental activity drains our energy. Stress, burnout, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion are becoming common because the mind rarely receives rest. Many physical and emotional struggles are not only caused by external pressures but also by our daily habit of never slowing down.Nature teaches us a different rhythm. Every day has its sunrise and sunset. Every season has its time of activity and its time of rest. Human beings also need moments of quiet to restore balance.STILLNESS IS INNER MEDICINEIf we become physically ill, we seek medical treatment and follow the doctor’s advice. In the same way, inner well-being requires us to follow the timeless prescription of stillness. Whether through meditation, mindful breathing, quiet reflection, or simply sitting peacefully for a few minutes each day, we give the mind space to settle. As the inner noise becomes quieter, clarity replaces confusion, peace replaces tension, and wisdom replaces impulsive reactions. Problems may still exist, but they no longer control our inner state. This is true salvation. Stillness is neither escape nor waiting for miracles to happen – it is the ability to live with greater awareness, compassion, and balance.Salvation is not a dramatic event that arrives from outside. The moment you pause, breathe, and stand still, you step out of the prison of endless noise and discover that salvation is already waiting in the silence within you. Stillness is the doorway through which salvation is experienced.
