Citizens are being warned not to venture to the Piparo mud volcano for sightseeing, after heightened activity at the site on Thursday.
Traffic restrictions have been put in place and Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen informed of the presence of police officers to ensure that motorists stay away from certain roads, to make for easier evacuation of residents, should the need arise.
“As a precautionary measure, we are putting some traffic restrictions in place. Traffic will be restricted from Piparo Road and diverted through Hosienee Trace. You also have Thomas Ross Road from the Princes Town side as well as through Piparo Road from Tabaquite,” she said.
