AN assistant divisional fire officer (ADFO) who was charged two years ago for driving under the influence of alcohol had the charge against him dismissed on Tuesday.
This is because, up to Tuesday when the matter was set to proceed to trial, no disclosure had been made to the defence nor had the police file been forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a State prosecutor to be appointed.
Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor, in discharging Adesh Harrinarine, criticised the conduct of the officer who laid the charge by him failing to act with due diligence.
