CRIMINOLOGIST Dr Daurius Figueira yesterday questioned Government’s decision to establish 30 new police posts across Trinidad and Tobago, arguing that the move appears at odds with official reports indicating that serious crime is declining.

Speaking with the Express last night, Figueira said he understood that the proposed police and military posts were intended to create a network covering strategic locations across the country while complementing existing police stations.

“The key to the whole thing is that they are establishing military and police posts to create a network that would cover what would be considered strategic locations throughout the country,” he said.
