Jose Gregory Herrera, 19, a Venezuelan national of St. Julien Village, Princes Town, died on Tuesday after reportedly receiving an electric shock while at a construction site in Marabella.
Herrera was performing work at Unit 5, Tropical Plaza, along the Southern Main Road for Persad’s D Food King around 4:30 p.m. when he attempted to unplug a Hilti jackhammer connected to an extension cord. He suddenly fell onto his back, appearing to have suffered an electric shock, and was semi-conscious.
Co-workers, including the contractor and a Persad’s D Food King supervisor rushed to his aid and transported him to Southern Medical Clinic in a private vehicle. Herrera was pronounced dead at 5:28 p.m.
