Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC has extended her deepest condolences to the Government and people of the United States of America, as well as the families, loved ones and fellow service members of three United States military personnel, including one of Trinidad and Tobago heritage, who lost their lives in the line of duty in Jordan earlier this month.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Prime Minister paid special tribute to 28-year-old Sergeant Angel Sarah Rampersad, whose Trinidad and Tobago heritage was formally confirmed by United States authorities.
Sergeant Rampersad, 28, of Ozone Park, New York, was killed in action on July 17th, 2026, during an enemy attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan. US Central Command had previously announced that the soldier was missing.
