Probe into plot to kill Govt minister

Former government minister Foster Cummings has disclosed that 18 heavily armed police officers showed up at one of his properties as part of an investigation into an alleged conspiracy to murder a government minister.

Cummings made the disclosure in the Senate on Wednesday night during his contribution to the debate on the Special Operations Bill, 2026, as he raised concerns about expanding the powers available to law enforcement.

The former People’s National Movement (PNM) Minister of Youth Development and National Service said a document had also been prepared on his “activities” on a police letterhead and labelled as “intelligence”.
