Residents dispute police’s shootout claim in Westmoreland man’s death

Anger erupted in Seaford Town, Westmoreland, on Friday as residents reacted angrily to the death of 35-year-old businessman Jordon Perry Smith, who was killed in an alleged confrontation with the police about 3 a.m.
While efforts to get an official version of the incident from the police were unsuccessful, a police source, who spoke to The Gleaner on condition of anonymity, said a targeted operation was carried out at Smith’s home.
According to the source, as members of the security forces approached the premises, they were greeted with gunfire and took evasive action and returned the fire.
