In­de­pen­dent Sen­a­tor An­tho­ny Vieira, SC, is call­ing on young lawyers to con­sid­er be­com­ing pros­e­cu­tors, say­ing the Of­fice of the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP) re­mains sig­nif­i­cant­ly un­der­staffed at a time when Trinidad and To­ba­go con­tin­ues to grap­ple with se­ri­ous crime.

In a state­ment di­rect­ed at young lawyers and law stu­dents, Vieira said pros­e­cu­tion of­fers an op­por­tu­ni­ty to make a mean­ing­ful con­tri­bu­tion to the fight against crime while strength­en­ing one of the coun­try’s most im­por­tant in­sti­tu­tions.
