STANDING FINANCE COMMITTEE
THE STANDING Finance Committee became heated yesterday as Opposition MP Colm Imbert pressed Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo with questions on the allocations for the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), prompting the chairman Jagdeo Singh to urge him to not be “petulant”.
Imbert questioned an 80% reduction in the allocation for tourism and hospitality sector support, from $5 million in fiscal 2026 to $1 million in 2027. He described tourism as critical to Tobago’s economy and demanded an explanation.
