Sir Garfield Sobers, the legendary West Indies all-rounder and one of the sport’s most towering icons, died at his home earlier today after a period of illness.

He was 89 years old, just 11 days shy of his 90th birthday.

Widely regarded by many as the greatest cricketer of all time, Sir Garry was the complete all-rounder, excelling as a batter while bowling left-arm pace, left-arm orthodox spin and left-arm wrist spin.
