PRIME MINISTER Kamla Persad- Bissessar says she could not stop laughing at the irony of Blue Waters becoming a Diamond sponsor of Divali Nagar, given a derogatory reference to Indo-Trinidadians made by a relative of the Hadeeds.
Persad-Bissessar yesterday described the sponsorship as "hilarious", claiming that National Council of Indian Culture (NCIC) president Surujdeo Mangaroo had been "duped" into publicly announcing the company's financial support for the annual religious and cultural celebration.
"I find the irony of that sponsorship hilarious. On one hand, the Hadeeds refer to us as stinking coo.... in private and on the other hand they are publicly sponsoring the stinking coo... religious events. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the sponsorship and that Mangaroo was actually duped into hosting a public relations press conference to accept it. Anyways I hope they have a wonderful event," she said in response to questions from the Express.
