Dig­i­cel Trinidad and To­ba­go has an­nounced that all calls to Ja­maica are free of charge in the af­ter­math of Hur­ri­cane Melis­sa, which caused wide­spread dam­age across the is­land.

The of­fer takes ef­fect im­me­di­ate­ly and runs un­til Mon­day, No­vem­ber 3 at 11:59 p.m. A dai­ly cap of 60 min­utes will ap­ply from Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 30 to en­sure as many cus­tomers as pos­si­ble can ben­e­fit while main­tain­ing re­li­able net­work ac­cess for all users.

“Our cus­tomers live and work in a re­gion that faces pow­er­ful storms and oth­er crises with in­creas­ing fre­quen­cy,” said Pieter Verkade, CEO of Dig­i­cel (Trinidad and To­ba­go). “In mo­ments like these, com­mu­ni­ca­tion is more than a ser­vice, it's a life­line.
