Backlash for Beenie

JAMAICAN dancehall superstar Beenie Man (Moses Davis) has issued a video message to Trinidad and Tobago following the social media backlash he received after a video appeared with him appearing to claim that his country, and not T&T, started Carnival.

He made the claim last week during an interview with Queens, New York-based radio host Shani Kulture on Hot 97. In a viral clip, the host is seen asking, “So just for clarity, Jamaica started Carnival before Trinidad? You’re standing on that?”

Beenie Man replied, “Yes. Overall. Due to Byron Lee.”
