High Court Judge Justice Joy Persaud-Singh has refused an application by Director of National Border Patrol and former Region Four Chairman, Daniel Seeram seeking a judicial review of Magistrate Abigail Gibbs’ decision to remand him to prison pending sentencing for the assault of his ex-wife.
The matter was heard on Monday with Justice Persaud-Singh denying Seeram’s request for bail and upholding the lower court’s decision to remand him to prison. The application was made on Friday by Attorney Nigel Hughes after Seeram’s court appearance at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
Justice Persaud-Singh had ordered Seeram to remain in Police custody at Sparendaam Police Station until his application is heard on Monday, October 5, 2026.
