The families of the four deceased LMCS divers and survivor Christopher Boodram are not for sale and should not be used in the People’s National Movement (PNM) general election campaign, says former Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh.
Responding to an announcement by Prime Minister Stuart Young, that the families and Boodram would received an ex gratia payment of $1 million each, Indarisngh said this payment should have been made following the recommendations of the Commission of Enquiry.
In a WhatApp message on Thursday, Indarsingh said “Stuart Young as the Prime Minister has sunk to an all time low as it related to on the verge of the general election to host a post cab meeting to indicate that Cabinet had taken a decision to pay an ex gratia payment to the families of the deceased divers. This he must not be allowed to take the credit for.”
