Police have launched an investigation into the discovery of a partially decomposed infant’s body at the Beetham Landfill on Monday afternoon.
The grim find was made around 3:28 p.m. a kilometre from the main entrance of the landfill. According to reports, security officers from Amalgamated Security Services were on mobile patrol when they were alerted by a garbage truck driver to a suspicious bag in the area.
The driver directed officers to the location where they found the body of what appeared to be a stillborn infant. The remains were wrapped in a blood-stained white vest and stuffed inside a black canvas tote bag.
