(Kaieteur News) – Scotiabank, in partnership with Relay Education, is rolling out a three-year initiative to equip 1,750 young people across Guyana, Barbados and Jamaica with practical knowledge and skills in renewable energy, environmental sustainability and emerging career opportunities.
The initiative, which commenced in 2025, seeks to prepare the next generation to contribute to the region’s transition towards more sustainable and resilient economies through hands-on learning experiences. On a press release the bank said the programme brings concepts such as renewable energy, climate resilience and environmental sustainability to life through interactive workshops conducted in classrooms and communities. It also aims to strengthen local capacity by training educators and community partners to deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned learning experiences.
Using practical activities and demonstration technologies, students are exposed to renewable energy solutions and their real-world applications while developing critical thinking, problem-solving and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills. Scotiabank Guyana Country Head, Nafeeza Gaffoor, said the initiative comes at a critical time for Guyana, which is undergoing rapid transformation and creating new opportunities for young people.
