SEARCH and Rescue operations to locate a Venezuelan national who was on board a pirogue that capsized in Icacos waters on Saturday morning are ongoing, as at least one body washed ashore yesterday.

According to Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT) leader Vallence Rambharat, the Coast Guard, Air Guard and other authorities have been combing the South-Western coast overnight to locate Nikol Landaeta, one of three passengers on board the migrant vessel that was on Saturday overcome by the ocean.

Rambharat told the Express yesterday that his team had been assisting authorities since the initial report on Saturday. He said at around 6.30 a.m., the vessel, bound for Venezuela, had overturned in the waters off Erin Bay. Inside, he said, was a quantity of copper.
