A FORMER board member at the National Council of Indian Culture (NCIC) believes that the debate over sponsorship for Divali Nagar should prompt a broader view into independence, accountability and the role of cultural organisations.
Visham Bhimull made the comment following the pulling out of sponsorship by several State entities for the Divali Nagar, and Blue Waters being named as the Diamond Sponsor of the event.
Bhimull stated, “These developments have generated political commentary but decisions and motives should not be assumed without evidence. The larger question is how cultural organisations can remain independent, accountable and focused on their mandate.”
