Even as it advised citizens to remain calm, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said yesterday it has put strategic measures in place in the interest of national security following the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, by US military forces in Caracas yesterday morning.

In a release, the TTPS said there was no need for public alarm as it was closely monitoring recent regional developments and had implemented a series of precautionary operational measures to ensure the continued safety and security of the nation.
