The Arima Borough Corporation says it will take steps to address security at municipal police stations following a meeting on Tuesday.
Mayor of Arima Alderman Balliram Maharaj extended condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Acting Corporal Anusha Eversley, who was murdered on Sunday morning at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station. He said the loss of life and the theft of arms and ammunition are matters for national attention and called on corporations to ensure the safety of officers.
Mayor Maharaj and Councillor Dave Maharaj, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Police Committee, met with the Senior Engineer of the Arima Borough Corporation and senior officers of the Arima Municipal Police to review security arrangements and procedures at police locations.
