Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar SC says her Government remains committed to strengthening the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service as part of its broader efforts to improve national security.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mrs Persad-Bissessar noted that Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander and Minister of Justice Devesh Maharaj visited the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service Training Academy at the Golden Grove Prison Complex in Arouca on Wednesday and met with the first batch of recruits as training began.
She said the first intake had been planned for 250 recruits, with 226 trainees reporting for their first day of training.
