GEORGETOWN, Guyana, – The two-day racing extravaganza that kicks off an action-packed month of motorsport starts today at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) Thomaslands venue with the first round of the Need for Speed Karting Championship. The Jumbo Jet events race meet gets going today with the official qualifying segment from 5:00 p.m. with the GX200 class, followed by the SuperMoto Junior (85cc), Briggs Female, SuperMoto Senior (250cc), Briggs Rookie (Over 35), IAME X30, Briggs Junior, Briggs Senior Heavy, Briggs Veteran, Briggs Cadet and Briggs Senior Light classes.
Tomorrow, Saturday, action across the 11 classes will begin from 8:00 a.m. with the opening of pits and scrutineering. Drivers will then attend a mandatory briefing at 8:45 a.m. before final preparations get underway. The National Anthem is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., followed by final grid staging and driver preparation.
Racing action starts at 9:15 a.m. with the opening heat for the Honda GX200 class. The day’s programme will continue at 15-minute intervals, featuring the SuperMoto Junior (85cc), Briggs Female, SuperMoto Senior (250cc), Briggs Rookie (Over 35), IAME X30, Briggs Junior, Briggs Senior Heavy, Briggs Veteran, Briggs Cadet and Briggs Senior Light classes.
