A family from Gayle, St Mary is celebrating a life-changing victory after becoming the first-ever champions of the Supligen Big Boost Games, claiming the J$1-million grand prize following an intense 50-hour team competition. Team Phoenix with members Monique Brown Ramharrack, her daughter Tanique Dunn, and nephew Rushane Williams, outlasted 49 other teams after the competition got under way at 7:25 p.m. last Thursday, continuing uninterrupted until Saturday. Teams of three were required to maintain continuous physical contact with the iconic Supligen Cup while completing a series of team challenges over the period. For the family, the victory represents far more than prize money. Dunn plans to use her share of the winnings to pursue university studies overseas later this year, while Williams has a goal of becoming a military officer. Team Phoenix entered the competition with less than 24 hours’ preparation. After  seeing a post about the Big Boost Games on social media, Dunn quickly assembled her mother and cousin before travelling from St Mary to Kingston to compete. The team credited their victory to discipline, teamwork and faith, with Williams recalling that he even used one bathroom break to pray. Through the overnight hours, Brown Ramharrack remained awake to ensure the team’s continuous contact with the Supligen Cup was never broken. “This million-dollar win is not for me, it’s for them,” she said. “Tanique has always dreamed of studying overseas, and Rushane also has plans for his future. Now we have a head start on making those dreams a reality. There were moments when we almost got  eliminated, but we trusted God, worked together as a family and stayed focused until the very end.” Claiming second place was Team Vanguards, comprising content creators Tyewhan Eduh, Jevar Henry and T’wayne Graham. The trio each received J$100,000 for their performance. “Watching the resilience, teamwork and determination displayed by every competitor over the past 50 hours was truly inspiring,” said Deidra Grey, brand manager for Supligen.“As we  celebrate Supligen’s 50th anniversary, we wanted to reconnect with Jamaicans through a first-of-its-kind experience that reflects the values our brand has championed for five decades, strength, energy and resilience.
