Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries Ernesto Kesar, along with Acting Permanent Secretary Ava Mahabir Dass, Director, Downstream Petroleum Management Division, Ms. Ayasha Nickie, and Chemical Engineer Mentee, Ms. Karuna Ramsackal, met with representatives of the Energy Solutions Finance Department of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, (JBIC) Mitsubishi Gas Chemical and Mitsubishi Corporation (MGC & MC) and Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL) on Wednesday April 8th, 2026, at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries Head Office, International Waterfront Centre, Port of Spain.
Representatives from JBIC’s Energy Solutions Finance Department and Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited provided business updates on their ongoing assessments, status of projects and production achievements for fiscal year 2025. The meeting served as an engagement to review developments on initiatives of mutual interest.
Minister Kesar highlighted the Government’s commitment to fostering partnerships with international financial institutions and investors to promote responsible investment and innovation within the energy industry. He noted that collaboration with organizations such as JBIC, MGC & MC and CGCL play an important role in supporting large-scale projects and driving sustainable economic development.
