The Guyana gov­ern­ment has sig­nalled its pre­pared­ness to ex­tra­dite the leader of the re­cent­ly formed We In­vest in Na­tion­hood (WIN) par­ty, Azrud­din Mo­hamed, and his fa­ther, Nazar “Shell” Mo­hamed, who are want­ed in the Unit­ed States on sev­er­al fraud re­lat­ed charges.

At­tor­ney Gen­er­al and Min­is­ter of Le­gal Af­fairs, Anil Nand­lall, speak­ing on his week­ly “Is­sues in the News,” Face­book pro­gramme on Tues­day night, said that Guyana is both ready and will­ing to fa­cil­i­tate an ex­tra­di­tion re­quest for the Mo­hameds once re­quest­ed by the Unit­ed States au­thor­i­ties.

“Guyana is ready, will­ing and most able to dili­gent­ly dis­charge its le­gal du­ties and oblig­a­tions un­der the cur­rent ex­tra­di­tion frame­work that ex­ists with the Unit­ed States of Amer­i­ca in re­la­tion to this mat­ter, and we re­main com­mit­ted to that course.
