In a bid to enĀsure a more thorĀough asĀsessĀment of apĀpliĀcants for Firearms Usersā LiĀcences (FULs), MinĀisĀter of HomeĀland SeĀcuĀriĀty Roger AlexanĀder is sugĀgestĀing that checks on soĀcial meĀdia acĀcounts should alĀso be inĀcludĀed as part of the vetĀting process.
AlexanĀder said it would be an added seĀcuĀriĀty mechĀaĀnism to enĀsure that prospecĀtive FUL holdĀers were reĀsponĀsiĀble enough to own and opĀerĀate a gun.
SpeakĀing with Guardian MeĀdia afĀter atĀtendĀing an inĀter-faith serĀvice at the St AuĀgusĀtine SecĀondary School on GorĀdon Street on MonĀday, AlexanĀder said he had reĀcentĀly spoĀken with PoĀlice ComĀmisĀsionĀer AlĀlisĀter GueĀvarĀro. He said he recĀomĀmendĀed that soĀcial meĀdia checks be added to the list of processĀes for FUL apĀpliĀcants.
