Two stakeĀholdĀers in the loĀcal firearms inĀdusĀtry agree with Prime MinĀisĀter KamĀla PerĀsad-BissesĀsar that the process of obĀtainĀing a Firearms Userās LiĀcence (FUL) ofĀten deĀpends on the disĀcreĀtion of inĀdiĀvidĀual poĀlice ofĀfiĀcers, even when apĀpliĀcants meet all the listĀed criĀteĀria.
They beĀlieve adĀdiĀtionĀal meaĀsures and safeĀguards are needĀed to enĀsure that every apĀpliĀcant is treatĀed fairĀly and asĀsessed based on the merĀit of their need for an FUL.
DurĀing her apĀpearĀance at the UNCās MonĀday Night meetĀing at the PeĀnal SecĀondary School, PerĀsad-BissesĀsar lamentĀed that there have been ocĀcaĀsions where some apĀpliĀcants for firearms were reĀjectĀed based on a sinĀgle ofĀfiĀcerās opinĀion or reaĀsonĀing.
