Canter damages GPL pole, leaving West Side communities without power

(Kaieteur News) – A canter bearing registration number BAG 6365 on Tuesday damaged a Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL) utility pole, disrupting electricity supply to several communities on the West Coast of Demerara.
In an update posted on its Facebook page, GPL said the incident damaged its network infrastructure in the De Kinderen area, prompting corrective works by the company’s network team.
“To facilitate these works, customers in De Kinderen, Zeelugt and Tuschen Scheme will experience an interruption in electricity supply today, Wednesday, 28th October, 2026, from 12:00 hrs to 13:30 hrs,” the company stated.
