Village mourns ‘warm, caring’ man found in pond

The body of 82-year-old Paras Bhaiwah was found floating at the pond at Usine Ste Madeleine on Saturday morning.

Several people including residents from Sugar Road, Bronte where he lived and his relatives gathered at the location following the discovery. Police officers were also at the scene.

Relative Dereck Russell said that whenever he visited the village, he would see Bhaiwah rocking in his hammock. “He was like the village barber, when you growing up as a little boy, he cut your hair, we got along very well. A very nice, warm, loving person. Very, very caring person,” said Russell.
