(Kaieteur News) – The United States is aggressively upping its campaign against China in the Western hemisphere as the country increases its presence through specialised infrastructure and energy projects in the region, offering competitive prices compared to American firms.
This has caught the attention of Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Hemisphere Affairs, Juan Pablo Segura who made a recent post on social media warning against the use of “state-owned companies” compared with American firms.
“Certain foreign investments in our hemisphere can come with a hidden price tag. Lower upfront costs mask higher lifecycle expenses and long-term risk. The United States offers something better,” he wrote.
