A flash-flood watch is in effect for Barbados as a tropical wave continues to bring moderate to heavy showers across the island.The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) said rainfall could result in flooding in low-lying areas.Up to one inch of rainfall was recorded overnight as the tropical wave approached the island, and the BMS said another one to two inches could fall today.Moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible. Impacts may include water settling on roads and fields. Residents could face commuting delays and isolated traffic diversions. There is also the possibility of rising water levels in ponds and other water bodies, soil erosion and excess water on properties.The flash-flood watch, issued at 6 a.m., will remain in effect until noon today, or sooner if conditions warrant.The BMS said the watch could be upgraded to a warning if necessary.
