Ganja found by cops during Bartica vehicle search

Police are investigating the discovery of 110.6 grams of suspected cannabis at Five Miles Junction, Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) on Friday. The cannabis was discovered at about 16:30h during mobile patrol duties in the Five Miles area.

According to preliminary investigations, police ranks intercepted a motor vehicle at Five Miles Junction. The vehicle was occupied by a 32-year-old taxi driver and a 52-year-old gold miner. A search of the vehicle was conducted, during which the 52-year-old passenger was allegedly found with a black bulky parcel containing three transparent parcels filled with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The man was arrested and taken to the Bartica Police Station along with the narcotic. The substance was weighed in his presence and amounted to 110.6 grams.
