FORMER prime ministers Dr Keith Rowley and Stuart Young have extended condolences following the passing of former president of Suriname Chandrikapersad “Chan” Santokhi.
Santokhi, 67, died yesterday at the Academic Hospital in the capital of Paramaribo where he had been taken after falling ill at home.
Rowley, in a Facebook post yesterday, stated: “I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and the people of Suriname, on the passing of His Excellency Chandrikapersad Santokhi, former president of Suriname. His life of service and dedication to his nation will be remembered with respect and gratitude. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.”
