THE High Court has ruled that a Honda Vezel hybrid vehicle, purchased during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, is the property of a local contractor rather than the woman who registered it in her name while he was stranded abroad.
The judgment, delivered by Justice Westmin James last week, settles a legal battle brought by Steffon Belfon against his ex-girlfriend Marva Khan.
The case centred on whether hundreds of thousands of dollars transferred by Belfon to Khan from Canada were intended as “outright gifts” or were sent for the specific purpose of securing assets for his return to Trinidad.
