As the Guyana Police Force (GPF) continues to clamp down on traffic violations, an enforcement exercise was held from Sunday, August 9, to Friday, August 14, 2026, around the Capital City by ranks from Traffic Headquarters, during which 171 cases were made against errant drivers. Of these cases, 74 were for speeding; 24 for leaving a motor vehicle in a dangerous position; 14 for driving a motorcycle without a safety helmet; eight for prohibition of tinted glass; four for obscured ID marks; one for faulty parking; 15 for failing to conform to a sign; nine for unnecessary sounding of the horn; seven for carrying a pillion rider without a safety helmet; one for no silencer; four for stopping within thirty feet of any corner; three for breach of the conditions of road service; three for untidy drivers; three for breach of the conditions of prescribed fitness; one for an uncertified motor vehicle; and one for an untidy hire car driver.

In addition, some 23 fitnesses were revoked. Meanwhile, 23 drivers were arrested but later released with notices for intended prosecution, while 127 tickets were issued.

The Police reiterated that the Traffic Headquarters will continue its enforcement exercises.
