The University Of Trinidad And Tobago (UTT) Empowers SMEs And Creatives With Cybersecurity Insights

The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) recently hosted a cybersecurity forum entitled From Awareness to Action: Expanding Cybersecurity Capacity for SMEs and Creative Industries in Trinidad and Tobago. This event, made possible by the High Commission of Canada builds on a policy-based cybersecurity seminar hosted by both entities, in September 2025.

The event held at UTT Chaguanas Campus saw representatives from a number of event-based organisations and governmental agencies including Cyber Security Incident Response Team (TTCSIRT) and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s Cyber and Social Media Unit deliver presentations to, and facilitate panel discussions with those present, and to the online audience of over 300 persons.

A panel discussion moderated by iGovTT highlighted the need to protect the creative and events economy as cybersecurity risks affecting these industries are as just damaging as those experienced in other industries, and can often lead to significant financial loss, reputational damage and in some cases, national security concerns.
