Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar took a minor tumble this afternoon while attending a function in her Siparia constituency.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the Wilson Road cricket ground in Penal, where she was attending a SportTT graduation ceremony for the JAVA Community Cricket Programme. As the Prime Minister walked under a temporary tent towards the seating area, she stumbled and fell forward, breaking her fall with an outstretched arm.
Several people quickly rushed to her aid. Witnesses said the ground beneath the tent may have shifted or "sank," which possibly caused the fall.
