(Kaieteur News) – The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered a review of security procedures at the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Command Centre at Liliendaal following the alleged unauthorised access to and disclosure of surveillance footage to Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed.
On Friday, 30th October, 2026, Mohamed and 20-year-old Police Constable Ryan Greene were remanded to prison after appearing at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court. The two were jointly charged with the unauthorised giving of electronic data. In a statement on Sunday evening, the ministry described the alleged unauthorised access, extraction and disclosure of the surveillance footage as a matter of grave concern.
“It represents a serious threat to the confidentiality and integrity of Guyana’s law enforcement operations. The matter is now under police investigation, which must proceed on the evidence and in accordance with the law. Political office does not confer immunity from investigation, just as political affiliation cannot be a basis for prosecution,” the ministry said.
