Former prime minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday dismissed suggestions that he was being hypocritical for accessing the Privy Council for a final determination on a land dispute in which he was victorious.
Speaking to the Express by phone, Rowley said once the Privy Council remains the final court of appeal, anyone in T&T seeking to get final adjudication on a court matter has to utilise this court. “Once you pursue the process to finality, you will end up there,” he said.
He stressed this did not mean he was against changing the procedures and having the Caribbean Court of Justice as the final court of adjudication. It merely means you have to utilise the institutions that are available to you at this point in time, he said.
