Minister of Culture and Community Development Michelle Benjamin says the decision to rename the National Carnival Commission (NCC) is still before the Cabinet.
Speaking to members of the media following the official launch of NAPA Jazz Fusion 2026 on Monday, the Minister said the recommendation was made by Carnival stakeholders during the “Blueprint of Carnival” public consultations.
“That matter is still before Cabinet, so I can’t make any pronouncements because that is a Cabinet decision. It’s not my decision alone. But yes, consultation did happen. As you will appreciate, we do have other festivals, and that was actually one of the recommendations that came out of the consultations, and all of that information will be made public information. We would put it out in the public domain but that is before Cabinet.”
