NOT TAKING A SINGLE CHANGE

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says the Government will not accept a single amendment to the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property (Amendment) Bill, 2026, from the nine Independent senators, whom she described as “Luciferian monsters”.

Persad-Bissessar told the Sunday Express yesterday she intended to keep her word that the Government would no longer accept recommendations from the Independent bench following the senators’ opposition to the Government’s crime-fighting legislation.

Her declaration comes ahead of tomorrow’s Senate debate on the Procurement Bill, which was passed in the House of Representatives on Wednesday by a vote of 25-10. Parliament has listed the bill for second reading in the Senate tomorrow.
