KINGSTON, Jamaica (AFP) — The decision to make international rap star Cardi B the headlining act at BZR Weekend was a very intentional choice, according to Kaylia Williams of Konnect Media.
Speaking on Behalf of the BZR WKND team, Williams said organisers – Ryan Burke and Gramps Morgan – wanted an artist who could deliver more than just a big name, and instead create a true cultural moment.
“She is one of the biggest and most recognisable personalities in global music right now, but what makes this even more exciting is her genuine connection to Caribbean culture and Jamaica. We have seen her embrace dancehall, celebrate Jamaican culture, and even bring Vybz Kartel onto her Little Miss Drama Tour in Miami. So, for us, bringing Cardi B to Jamaica feels like a natural crossover rather than simply importing an international superstar,” Williams said.
