Flight activity at the Piarco International Airport has returned to normal after operations were briefly disrupted this morning after a canine was detected on the airside of the facility.
In a statement, the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago confirmed the incident and said that standard safety protocols and emergency response procedures were immediately activated to ensure the safety of passengers, staff, and all aviation stakeholders.
As a precautionary measure, there was a temporary pause in all flight operations. The canine was safely contained in accordance with established procedures, and normal operations resumed at 7:11 a.m.
