Students of The University of the West Indies want to hear about job security for graduates, plans to diversify the economy, and crime, on the political platforms.
President of The UWI St Augustine Student Guild Josef Paty echoed some of these concerns in a recent interview with the Express, saying that speaking about those issues would motivate university students and young voters to cast their ballots in Monday’s general election.
Stressing that The UWI Student Guild was an apolitical organisation, Paty said: “Students are very concerned with diversification of the economy, so going into things like exploration of sustainable energy and industries, further advancements in agricultural technology and resilience to reduce the food import bill” were important issues, he felt.
