An air-con­di­tion­ing tech­ni­cian hired to work in­side the Ari­ma Po­lice Sta­tion was fined $10,000 af­ter plead­ing guilty to steal­ing a cam­era from the same build­ing — a crime caught on the sta­tion’s own sur­veil­lance sys­tem.

Po­lice said 38-year-old Dex­ter Renne, of Richard­son Street, Pep­per Vil­lage, Fyz­abad, was con­tract­ed through an air-con­di­tion­ing ser­vice provider to per­form main­te­nance at the sta­tion.

On 22nd Ju­ly, 2025, an of­fi­cer had placed a box con­tain­ing two Canon EOS Rebel T7 cam­eras and ac­ces­sories in the locked serv­er room on the sta­tion’s sec­ond floor. When he re­turned on the morn­ing of 7th Au­gust, one of the cam­eras, val­ued at $4,000, was gone.
